Baby sleeping the night

5 tips for your baby to sleep through the night

Baby sleep is one of the main changes that moms have to adapt to when a baby arrives. And this is not just a problem for first-time mothers. Experienced mothers also go through this, after all, no pregnancy is the same as another, and consequently neither are the children.

However, you need to be alert, as sleep is one of the main indicators of your child's health.

And we know that every change has its difficult phase, but remember that it's the baby who

needs to adapt to your sleep routine, not you adapt to his.

And if you arrived at this post, it's probably because your baby isn't sleeping well at night, and consequently you aren't either, right?

So, in the following list, we'll give you 6 tips that can help improve your baby's sleep. And you will realize that the answer is simpler than you think.

1- Respect the windows of sleep

It is extremely important to respect these sleep windows, as they are a fundamental part of the baby's development. But what are sleep windows anyway?

Explaining it in a very easy to understand way, sleep windows are the intervals between sleep periods. That is, it is the time that the baby can stay awake between one nap and another, throughout the day and also at night.

And for each stage of development, the baby has different sleep windows, check it out:

0 to 1 month: up to 40 minutes awake

1 to 2 months: from 40 to 60 minutes awake

2 to 3 months: from 60 to 80 minutes awake

3 to 4 months: from 60 to 90 minutes awake

4 to 6 months: between a maximum of 1:15 am and 1:45 am awake

6 to 8 months: approximately 2:30 am awake

8 to 10 months: from 2 am to 3:30 am awake

12 months: from 3 am to 4 am awake

18 months: from 4 am to 6 am awake

2 years: from 5 am to 7 am awake

3 years: from 6am to 8am awake

4 years: 6am to 12am awake

These intervals are important for interacting with your baby, so that he expends energy and rests

better during periods of sleep. Daytime naps are also important in this process.

2- Teach the baby to differentiate day and night

This is a tip that seems unnecessary, but it makes a huge difference in the quality of sleep. You know that feeling when you're inside the mall, and you can't tell if it's day or night anymore, because the lights are on all the time? This is exactly what we need to avoid.

When you go to put the baby to sleep, turn off the room lights, or at least use softer lights,

By doing this, the baby learns that when the environment is darker, he can sleep peacefully,

and does not need to fight sleep. Another really good thing you can do is fill the room with

relaxing sounds or music.

3- Create a sleep routine starting with the bath

The bath has practically two functions in the baby's routine, in addition to, of course, hygiene. One of them is fun, you better than anyone know how easy those hours in the pool cause us, adults, imagine babies! And the other function is to relax, and prepare the baby for bedtime.

Do your best to bathe your child right before bedtime, so he begins to understand that this is another stage of sleep, and he gets used to the idea that he can rest peacefully afterwards.
